Infrastructure Engineer
Role/Responsibilities:
Maintain & monitor all network, security and computer management systems, to meet current and future requirements.
Jointly responsible for management, maintenance and architecture of storage, virtualized environment, servers, network devices, and productivity tools.
Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively.
Work within strict time frames and elevate incidents within defined timeframes.
Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
Follows the established standards for installing, configuring and/or removing hardware or software (change control process). Contributes to the development of new enterprise standards and/or the modification of existing standards.
Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications.
Monitors service delivery compliance to budget, quality standards and customer and business stakeholder requirements
Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts including involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
Perform infrastructure coordination related to design and setup activities at different stages of a project
Work with various vendors and service providers to ensure a productive environment.
Resolve issues and prepare status reviews and reports.
Professionally represent the infrastructure team as a technical consultant on projects.
Maintain the necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications.
Serves as point of escalation for Support Services and provides Level II and III support for hardware and OS/application related incidents by determining appropriate solutions to problems including software, hardware, network, and system integration requirements. Gives technical assistance to customers and management as needed.
Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors and contract consultants.
Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends.
Maintain good working relationships with all service providers and vendor to ensure that services received meet expected requirements of contract.
Works with Security and Network Operations staff to develop policies and procedures related to the implementation and support of the server environment. Maintains accurate documentation for all devices consistent with NORAM policies.
Participates in activities to evaluate new technology developments, applications and server solutions. Performs tasks associated with evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion for servers including virtualization strategies. Provides technical expertise to evaluate, install and maintain both hardware and software solutions to accurately meet the needs of our customers on a timely basis.
Contribute in the architecture design, deployment and development of IT services and associated processes and procedures.
Manage and support VMware, SAN storage, backups, patch management
Operate in a 24x7 highly scalable server infrastructure with emphasis on excellent time management skills, meeting strict deadlines.
Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively. Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
Travel to US and Canada branch offices for projects and troubleshooting.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Solid technical background in a hostedirtualized services environment including infrastructure networks, hardware, software and telecommunications
Strong server management software is a must. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within an enterprise environment.
Have working (configure and troubleshoot) experience on breadth of technologies e.g. LAN, WAN, MPLS, Firewall (Cisco, Fortigate), etc.
Promptly report to management about the Network Performance reports, Current status of the Network up time.
High degree of experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016
Experience with workstation management systems and desktop imaging. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and SQL Server
Have experience with administering LDAP, RDP, IIS, DNS, WSUS and FTP services
Working knowledge of security as it relates to cloud-based infrastructure
Familiarity with Office 365 and Exchange Online
Experience using automated monitoring tools such as Solarwinds
Ability to identify incident trends in order to elevate incidents in accordance with standard protocols
Ability to assess the network requirements and suggest recommendations based on the requirements to the management
Able to gather relevant information systematically to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Strong virtualization experience using VMware
Proven ability to work in a cloud based or hosting environment
Ability to maintain good working relationships with third party service providers and vendors
Experience working in a project and change management environment ensuring standards are met
Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
