Senior DevOps Engineer

Contract to Hire

$60-$70/hr

80% Remote Work Option

Our client is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineers who is smart, hard-working, and enjoys teaming with other best and brightest engineers on highly-visible, technically-challenging projects and offerings. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded professional with a background in AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and passionate about emerging technology, projects and consulting.

Responsibilities:

- Drive architecture and deliver custom solutions on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, with a specialized focus on AWS virtualization, migrations and automation.

- Provide consultation and direction on migrating customer environments to Cloud platforms such as AWS, and lead the migration from cradle to grave.

- Assist our customers with Cloud Assessments, AWS Architecture Designs and Migration Strategy.

- Build AWS infrastructure and implement deployment processes, CI & CD.

- Assist clients with relevant services such as AWS Auto Scaling & resiliency and AWS DevOps automated services.

- Support continuous Security Compliance, AWS Cost Optimization and assist clients with AWS troubleshooting & support.

- Conduct solution discovery workshops covering: networks, virtual machines, storage, migrations, disaster recovery and additional cloud services as needed.

- Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems.

- Assist in the management of projects using the clients management methodology.

- Regularly interface with customers’ technical and business staff, including the project sponsor and stakeholders of projects in more complex engagements.

- Serve as a technical point of contact on customer engagements.

- Create and execute test plans to meet project requirements for assigned components.

- Identify and communicate potential opportunities for cross-selling to the sales team.

- Manage time and expense to meet or exceed expectations defined in the Statement of Work.

- Provide high quality content deliverables using the appropriate document templates.

- Work with Professional Services Managers, Project Managers, and customers to manage expectations and timelines, ensuring expectations and commitments are being met.

- Conduct/lead design workshops for complex designs to meet customer, business and technical objectives.

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, a related technical degree or equivalent.

- Five years of experience delivering complex technical solutions including planning, development, implementation and support.

- Experience as a major contributor in a DevOps environment (utilizing AWS and AWS Services; heavy containerization experience Kubernetes and EKS; experience with API Gateways).

- Experience in the design and implementation of AWS services.

Preferred:

- Service mesh experience.

- Experience with AWS Services design and deployment consisting of: Amazon EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, VPC, SNS, Auto Scaling, Elemental Convert, Cognito, etc.

- Experience with distributed systems is a plus.

- Linux system administration.

- Experience facilitating migrations to AWS using native services.

- Experience/exposure to Azure offerings including Azure App Service, Azure.

- Experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions such as: Azure ARM templates, AWS CloudFormation and/or Hashicorp Terraform.

- Experience with configuration management solutions such as: Ansible, Chef and/or Puppet.

- Proven experience as a technical thought-leader, e.g. inventions of new technologies, applications of technologies, methods of synthesizing technologies, and domain understanding, in order to forge new market opportunities.

- Proven project oversight and delivery and mentoring of technical teams/consultants.

- Excellent written, presentation, and oral communication skills including demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations to C-level executives.

- Professional, business-focused attitude and courteous manner towards clients, partners and peers. Ability to work weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet clients’ needs.

- Ability to understand, assess and propose solutions for resolving customer questions and issues.
