Job Description

Our client is a prestigious law firm based out of Westchester, NY and there are currently seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to support, manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of our cloud and infrastructure environment consisting of servers, storage, backups, enterprise software and virtualized infrastructure within our datacenter, cloud deployments and remote office locations.

The Cloud System Engineer troubleshoots a wide array of complex system issues to ensure the security and integrity of our systems and data while meeting industry best practices.

The Cloud System Engineer also accepts ownership for various projects and implements initiative and assists in the design and planning of cloud and infrastructure projects, while providing tier two/three support to our employees and customer.

This person will work with our internal teams, vendors and consultant in reviewing our existing infrastructure environment and analyzing the effectiveness and adequacy of system, making recommendation for upgrades, replacement and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain, plan, and implement server infrastructure and cloud technology stack.

Coordinate technical reviews with vendors and engineering staff in performing system modeling, capacity planning, system performance, manageability and scalability.

Performs cloud and infrastructure environments upgrades and system refreshes.

Manage and Maintain Cloud Platforms (Azure and AWS)

Design and deploy dynamic, scalable, reliable and fault-tolerant applications in the cloud.

Migrate complex and multi-tier application on various cloud platform.

Implementing cost-control strategies for cloud spending.

Automation and scripting of VM configuration and management.

Standardization of system configuration and compliance management.

Test and deploy Windows Updates and remediation efforts.

Maintain and standardize firmware deployments for all infrastructure hardware.

Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.

Maintain, tune and remediate monitoring solution (Solar Winds, Client OneView, etc)

Ensure entire environment is monitored and is reporting correctly.

Monitoring backups to ensure backup run correctly on a nightly basis.

Respond, and mitigate system security vulnerabilities.

Formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.

Provides advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex system problems.

Incorporates new system plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

Maintain system architecture and design documentation.

Performs integration of new technologies into infrastructure.

Maintain standard build documentation and processes.

Perform technology assessment and selection of products and services.

Develop configuration and implementation instructions for routine deployments and daily tasks.

Develop, maintain, test and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

Develop and assess migration plan to cloud environments.

Provide Tier 2/3 support (expert problem remediation) for incidents and problems in designated areas of expertise.

Analyze and troubleshoot systems outages and/or degradation of service.

Self-motivated, willing to work in a 24/7 environment without close supervision.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

5+ years of Technology Infrastructure experience

Strong in-depth knowledge of system, network and datacenter operations

5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware, implementing in an enterprise virtualized environment,
cloud based infrastructure, multi-site, and over 300 VM's.

Must have at least one of the following certifications (VCP-DCV, VCA-DCV, MCSE, MCSA, etc.)

Knowledgeable in System Monitoring and Remediation using tools such as (SolarWinds, Client OneView)

Hands-on implementation of VMware 6.x (Host and vCenter)

Knowledgeable of VM Networking and Distributed Virtual Switch

Significant P2V & V2V migration experience

Scripting experience Automation, Power Shell and Power CLI.

Knowledgeable of Office 365 Implementation and Administration

Knowledgeable of IAAS, SAAS, PAAS such as, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud

Knowledgeable of VMware, Citrix, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange

Knowledgeable of LAN, WAN, Voice, Wireless

Knowledgeable of Client 3PAR storage & technologies relating to virtualization

Knowledgeable of Client Synergy Infrastructure and rack mounted servers

Must be able to articulate ITIL best practices

Ability to communicate and present ideas to technical staff and management concisely

Storage Virtualization & Replication Experience

Strong analytical, problem solving and root cause identification skills

Position requires regular on-call and weekend rotations
