PROJECT MANAGER

Dallas, TX

1 Year Contract

ICS is hiring a qualified Project Manager for our Client in the Downtown, Dallas area!

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Under general supervision of a Portfolio or Program Manager (in some cases, a Functional Manager), lead and direct multiple projects or one larger project.

Responsible for all aspects of the project over the entire life (initiate, plan, execute, control, close).

Must be familiar with system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member, to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.

Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project.

May communicate with a Senior Project Manager, Functional Area Manager, or Portfolio Manager regarding status of specific projects.

Project management support can include the following areas: coordinates with business support team and technical support team to implement application updates; works closely with management on projects and roadmap.

Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
Builds knowledge of the company, processes and customers. Solves a range of straightforward problems.

Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures.

Receive a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Priority 1: 25% - Define, document and carry out small to medium scale projects or sub-projects (typically less than six months, with limited budget, some interdependency with other projects, and some significant strategic impact), with a small team, actively participating in all phases.

Identify, assess, and manage risks to the success of the project.

Priority 2: 15% - Take full responsibility for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of
medium scale projects (typically lasting 6-12 months, with direct strategic impact, teams of 3 or more and firm deadlines).

Priority 3: 15% - Prepare realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate.

Priority 4: 15% - Facilitate project logistics such as meetings, conference rooms, conference calls, etc.
Takes meeting minutes and action items during meetings and performs basic follow-up. Uses judgment based upon knowledge and experience to facilitate success of the project and set priorities for action item follow-up.

Priority 5: 10% - Monitor costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensure that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.

Priority 6: 10% - Ensure quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. Manage the change control procedure, and ensure that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off

Priority 7: 10% - Provide effective leadership to the project team, and take appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE YOU NEED:

Bachelor’s degree (with course work in Project Management, Management Information Systems or related fields) or equivalent experience.

Project Management Professional (PMP).

Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the above

Basic to intermediate experience in MS Project or similar application.

Intermediate experience in MS Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint.

Experience understanding and applying relevant standards and policies.

Basic experience with ERP software analysis design and development of customizations

Experience with geographically dispersed teams.

Experience effectively preparing, conducting, participating in and following up on business meetings.

Experience using and administering company technology practices, standards and procedures.

Intermediate skill level with MS Project or similar application

Must be highly organized and detail oriented

Communication skills: Verbal and written skills to various levels on internal/external groups; customer
focused

Analytical skill: To evaluate and interpret data and business processes; general understanding of business financial management operations

Organizational skills: To effectively and efficiently manage work assigned; ability to multi-task

Interpersonal skills: Relates well to all kinds of people (team, customers); builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact

Resourcefulness skills: Willing to accept challenging project management assignments/tasks ; ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Software skills: Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, One-Note, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)

Manage changes: Project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques in order to keep the project plan accurate, updated, reflective of authorized project changes as
defined in the change management plan, and facilitate customer acceptance.

Communicate project plan: Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, in order to align the stakeholders and team members.

Monitor and control project work: Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.

Execute project plan: Execute the tasks as defined in the project plan in order to achieve the project goals.

Develop communication plan: Identify key project team members by defining roles and responsibilities to create a project organization structure in order to develop the communication plan.

Implement approved actions: Implement the approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events in order to minimize the impact of the risks on the project.

Establish project deliverables: Record detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish the project deliverables, using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g.,
planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups) and the project charter.

Develop project team: Improve team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, training, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale.

Possesses good listening skills: Listens intently to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions when appropriate, and allowing others to speak without interrupting them.

Supports team building: Builds mutual trust and encourages respect and cooperation among team members.

Strong knowledge and understanding of various project/program management best practices, tools, and methodologies; proven expertise in applying and coaching others in the use of Project Management Body
of Knowledge (PMBOK) techniques
