Job Description

Infinity Consulting Solutions (ICS) are hiring a Software Engineer (Snowflake Developer) to work at our client in Smithfield, RI! We are looking for a Snowflake Developer to join the team and assist in the creation Data Lake on an Amazon Web Services platform.

The Business Intelligence group is responsible for crafting, building and maintaining the operational and analytical capability .

The data infrastructure is going through significant growth, and this is an opportunity to take a contributing role in shaping capability in this area.

This team has been tasked with building a Data Lake on Snowflake hosted on AWS.

This is a multi-year initiative which starts with foundational buildout in 2019 followed by prepared and curated layers.

Responsibilities:

Participates in the development, improvement and maintenance of database applications both as an individual contributor and as a team member

Designs batch cycle procedures on major projects using scripting and Control M and performs functional analysis for major projects supporting several corporate initiatives

Works with IT partners and user community for project definition; works on multiple platforms and multiple projects concurrently

Performs independent technical analysis, debugging and troubleshooting as well as code and unit testing for complex scope modules, and projects

Serves as a technical resource for others and participates in rotating production support activities

Required Qualifications:

Solid grasp of database engineering and design (Relational, De-normalized, Data Lakes, etc.)

Five to eight years of programming skills experience in database development (main focus is Oracle)

Hands-on experience with at least one Snowflake implementation

Strong Database experience in Oracle, Hadoop/Hive or DBMS (Snowflake, Netezza, NoSQL a plus)

Experience developing data ingestion processes using Kafka

Knowledge of AWS and Azure platforms

3+ years of Development experience – Java a must, and experience developing Python (OR SPARK) based code that reads/writes data into databases

Comprehensive experience with database systems and related software

Experience with Control M (or similar job scheduling AutoSys)

Knowledge of DBMS optimizer and performance tuning techniques

Ability to read and interpret physical data models and ability to translate requirement documents into technical solutions

Experience with CI/CD pipeline and SDLC

Knowledge of Agile development

Good communications skills in addition to being an outstanding teammate

Preferred Qualifications:

Developing ETL solutions (Informatica nice to have)

Experience working with off-shore environments and Financial Services will be a plus.
