IT Systems Engineer
San Diego, CA
$120,000 - $135,000 base range DOQ
Our client is looking to add a strong Systems Engineer to their team! This is NOT a "corporate environment”, but rather a mid-sized MSP who supports a large client population in the San Diego area and beyond.
Culture: Looking for a strong Systems Engineer who does NOT want to work within "silos”.
Someone who wants to roll up their sleeves and touch a lot of HW/SW!
This is a mid-size, growing, advanced service and capability organization where they are installing, implementing and automating the best tech and practices in the marketplace!
In-depth understanding of cloud computing, database and application server, backup and recovery needs, development of deployment scripts using SVN and release methodologies
Proven experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting within Linux and Windows server
environment
Experience with at least one RDMS, such as: MySQL and MSSQL highly desired
Proven experience in automation using VMware vSphere virtual server systems
Demonstrated experience in virtualization using VMWare
Proficiency in script development using Python, PowerShell, or .NET
Documented experience with at least one SAN vendor technology like NetApp highly desired
Extensive configuration experience with load balancer hardware and software such as F5, BigIP
Hands-on use of tools like Splunk or Nagios
Proven track record of achieving and maintaining 99.999% availability of networks and network service
Willingness to ability to travel on-site to clients as needed
Systems Engineer will design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, systems administration issues, or network concerns.
This position is the final escalation point for internal and customer deployed application environments.
The ideal candidate is skilled in performing high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measures while interfacing with clients and internal personnel as needed.
Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components
Monitor system operation to detect potential problems
Provide customers or installation teams guidelines for implementing secure systems
Configure servers to meet functional specifications
Direct the installation of operating systems, network or application software, or computer or network hardware
Perform ongoing hardware and software maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading hardware or software
