Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting, including managing the month end close process, general ledger and financial reporting.

This position is also responsible for performing balance sheet, revenue, expense, and payroll account reconciliations, as well as executing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports in accordance with our established schedule with input from the rest of the accounting department.

Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the CFO’s
attention.

Perform the necessary journal entries to correct.

Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.

Reconcile billings to general ledger (prepares reconciling journal entries), completes required government reports relating to revenues and expenditures.

Analyze, make entries and post cash receipts from bank statement.

Reconciliation of A/R general ledger to grant documents.

Reconcile A/R General Ledger to subsidiary.

Review all inter-company transactions and perform allocations as necessary.

Prepare spreadsheets and reports as needed for auditors.

Participate in modification and implementation of financial software.

Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment.

Assist in the preparation of miscellaneous reports and surveys for senior management, governmental entities and year-end audit work papers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business/Finance required, Master’s or CPA preferred

Expert knowledge of computerized ledger systems, NetSuite preferred

Advanced knowledge of Excel

5 to 7 years prior experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas.

Proven ability to complete tasks on time

Microsoft Office- Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Fluency -Strong Command of Excel and data systems

Strong attention to detail and timeliness

Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.

Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures

Ability to communicate effectively with superiors, staff and funders

Collaborate easily with co-workers and work well independently

Honest, discreet and trustworthy
