Software Engineer (Architecture)
3 Month Contract to Hire
$140-$170k/yr. Conversion
Aurora, CO
TS/SCI with SSBI
The position requires strong engineering skills that include architecture and design of real time systems.
The position also requires knowledge of cloud-based solutions and the ability to refactor traditional system design patterns to those more suited for cloud-based solutions.
The software engineer will support a classified program. Join a small, highly-focus team working to develop and maintain signal-processing applications for use in real-time operational environment.
Team members are multi-disciplined and contribute across all phases of systems engineering, software development, integration and test, and metrics.
The team works closely with operations personnel to meet unique and continuously evolving development needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide architectural input to all decisions impacting product integrity, system performance,
and system functionality
A leader in establishing, communicating and following SW processes and procedures for development, architectural compliance, documentation, external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering
work products/artifacts
Object-oriented design, coding and application of architectural design patterns
Refactor capabilities into modular services and microservices design
Follow Agile practices
Foster commercial, cloud-based thinking across the various technical disciplines
Experience with pipeline engineering, continuous integration / continuous test, and automated test
Skilled designing software interfaces based on commercial technologies
Providing platform agnostic software architecture, preliminary design and detailed design
Defining and implementing software prototypes to demonstrate capabilities and burn down risk
Strong and effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats
Ability to communicate complex and diverse engineering and programmatic topics to achieve team consensus
Works closely with the systems engineer experts implement all aspects of the system
Partner with managers and stakeholders to drive projects forward
Interaction with customers and users effectively and professionally
Act independently and pro-actively seeks to uncover and resolve issues
Defining SW tasks & schedules
Personally models and fosters a culture of ethical behavior
Security Requirements:
Must have an existing Top Secret SCI clearance with current SSBI within last 5 years.
Degree Requirements:
Master’s Degree or higher in STEM
Required Experience & Skills: (MUST HAVE)
Software/System level architecture & modeling experience
Experience with Software process lifecycle (including Concept of operations, requirements, system design/architecting, development, testing, delivery, and system maintenance)
Experience with the entire software lifecycle (preliminary design through maintenance phases)
Experience using agile / DevOps methodologies for development
Experience with container services tools such as Docker and cloud-based deployments
Experience with COTS/FOSS Integration
Well versed in Software patterns and anti-patterns
Software programming skills in c/c++, java
Experience with UML, UPDM, or SYSML
Experience with DODAF, TOGAF, or SYSMOD
Experience with Git, Bitbucket or related SWCM tools
Experience with Atlasian tool suite (jira, confluence)
Experience with Oracle Database
Experience executing complex technical projects,
Ability to work in a small team environment, high paced, with flexibility in job role
10+ years of experience in delivering high quality, innovative applications and programming (Java, C++, etc.)
2+ years of leadership experience (team lead, technical lead)
Desire to work and thrive in a team environment

Signal Processing
Experience with S2p
Experience developing and deploying distributed cloud-based applications
Development, inspection, and manipulation of XML, XSDs
Experience coding applications interfacing with Mongo or other NoSQL databases
Experience with integrating custom software using Docker container strategies

Familiarity with providing Basis of Estimates and software bids
