Security Engineer

The Security Engineer is a hands-on position for development, implementation, operations and ongoing analysis of our security and operational infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of security foundational topics, as well as working knowledge of core infrastructure technologies.

The engineer will work to manage and maintain security infrastructure, as well as assist to ensure that information security is embedded throughout the organization.

Must be willing to jump in and learn new things to help move the company forward in out security goals.

Job Duties:

Works to ensure that security infrastructure and tools are operational, secure, and configured appropriately.

Vulnerability assessment tools

SIEM and security correlation platform

Firewalls and other network security infrastructure

Identity and credential management tools

Various cloud resources.

Deployment and operation of new tools at the delegation of Security Architecture.

Monitoring of various security and infrastructure logging data to correlate, identify, and mitigate threats to the organization.

Engage in vulnerability assessments, internal penetration testing, and threat hunting as skillset provides.

Collaborate on solutions for security problems, gaps, vulnerabilities, etc.

Work with employees to deliver and evangelize security awareness to the organization.

Maintain awareness of the latest threats, trends, and tools in our field.

Provide a point of contact for general security inquiries regarding compliance controls and RFP questions.

Qualification

Required knowledge

Working knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint security software, encryption, and other industry-standard tools.

In-depth technical knowledge of the network stack and how it impacts security.

Understanding of carious operating systems and their various roles in the enterprise.

In-depth technical understanding of at least one operating system and how to secure it. Windows, *nix, OSX, etc.

Understanding of cloud environments(IaaS, PaaS, etc) as well as traditional on-prem delivery infrastructure.

High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Understanding of various security and compliance frameworks and how they impact security (ISO27000, NIST, CIS etc)

Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and passion.

Industry certifications are a plus, but not required.

Applied security experience in an enterprise, service provider, or research environment.
