Data Governance Business Analyst

Overview

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a systems analyst or similar role and prior experience with data governance practices.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross functional teams and business stakeholders to develop and document policies and procedures surrounding data governance best practices, standards, and methodologies.

Lead the execution of data governance policies and practices across the organization; ensure established governance policies and procedures are followed throughout the ongoing expansion of the enterprise data warehouse.

Collaborate with data stewards and data council to maintain and enhance the data dictionary and data governance practices.

Translate proposed data modifications and innovations into detailed technical requirements by leading one-on-one, small- and large-group interviews to ensure business needs will be met.

Integrate data governance policies and practices into the various IT teams that develop and manage our source systems.

Assist with the analysis of bug issues/fixes, enlist assistance from business employees and direct efforts of others as necessary to ensure issue resolution.

Create and maintain data mapping files to support the database development team and data governance.

Build strong data lineage documentation so users can understand how data flows from point of entry to reporting and analytics.

Build and maintain strong business relationships.

Qualifications

2 years of proven data governance experience; 5+ years of experience with data analytics, business systems analysis or similar experience.

Proven project management, coordination and organization skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects.

Experience using Jira is strongly preferred.

Intermediate SQL experience is a plus.

Demonstrated experience writing policies and procedures for data governance or related areas.

Experience with compliance supervision and examination to include auditing standards and control structure.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and in groups, establish priorities, complete assignments and manage multiple projects.

Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical partners.

General understanding of Property and Casualty Insurance is preferred.

Bachelor's degree or higher is required.
