Tableau Senior Developer

6+ Month Contract possible Contract to Hire

Chicago, IL

Our Financial Services client is hiring a seasoned Senior Tableau Developer to support the Digital Marketing Strategy Team.

The Digital Marketing Strategy Team is responsible for promoting Commercial Banking products and services across digital channels, including corporate websites, social media, targeted e-mail, native advertising, search engines and more.

The team is also responsible for staying current on industry best practices and providing strategic guidance across all channels.

This senior resource will be highly analytical, have a deep understanding of data architecture, and knows advanced Tableau visualization and data modeling techniques.

The Tableau Developer will be a technical expert and will help determine the best reporting architecture and approach.

The journey of this resource will first begin with understanding of the current environment, helping with continuation of creation of PowerPoint decks (for adhoc dashboards/reports).

Then transforming them into Tableau reports.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Go-to-person for all Tableau technical requirements to help build and implement best practices

Ability to transform a business solution or requirement into a viable Tableau solution

Create and own Tableau dashboards end-to-end; from high level executive KPI dashboards to tactical application performance reports

Assist CB's Tableau Architect in day to day activities, along with strongly partnering with the Product Owner.

Seek direction from CB's Analytics Director

Developing interactive visualizations utilizing various reporting components from multiple data sources

Convert analyses into actionable recommendations to drive decisions

Comfortable working with business leaders to improve performance based on financial and operational analysis

Understand the levers of profitability, focusing on metrics that align with profitability goals

Improve, maintain, and utilize Marketing, Sales, and Operations KPIs to drive Company growth

Communicate analysis results and recommendations in a manner that enables the business sponsor to understand and act on the information

Provide adhoc analysis as requested

Identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets, to locate influences

Evaluation and/or implementation of data audit and visual analytics techniques, methods, and tools, including but not limited to: Tableau, SQL, ACL, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, etc.

Understanding of Tableau's integration with Python and R

Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint development skills.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 8 years in the Business Intelligence development space, with a passion for analytics

3-4+ years of hands on experience in Tableau dashboard development

3-5+ years of data analysis experience

Preferably certified in Tableau Desktop to apply best practices

Excellent knowledge in Tableau Security and Server for report distribution and governance controls

Expert in Microsoft Office software such as Excel (including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, pivot tables, etc.), PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint

Hands on demonstration in Advanced SQL skills, Cloudera Impala experience a plus

Familiarity with semi-structured data and data preparation

Eye for data visualization best practices

Strong analytical skills, organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to self-manage multiple tasks at one time

Clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions

An inquisitive mind; always seeking root causes, not just simple, superficial answers

Confidence to autonomously partner across lines of business and interact with all levels of leadership

A passion for proactively seeking opportunities to make improvements, gain efficiencies and meet unknown needs

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Financial Services in Banking domain experience is a plus
