Job Description

Network Operations Engineers have extensive knowledge of company products and services and experience and understanding of the overall IT environment.

They understand networking LAN, WAN, data center, wireless, load balancing and security technologies.

Network Operations Engineers receive calls or assignments which are non-routine and require deviation from standard procedures and troubleshooting steps.

They handle situations which may require adaptation of response or extensive research according to customer response or incident type.


They exhibit advanced problem solving skills and techniques requiring minimal assistance from others in resolving these problems.

They are aware and understand programming languages and automation technology to automate routine or day to day work requests and network health checks.

Network Operations Engineers are situationally aware and continuously observe the operational health and status of network components within the infrastructure to isolate and address points of failure.

They provide guidance and training to less experienced staff.

Network Operations Engineers consult with systems engineering or other technical teams when events require.

Primary Skills

Professional-level Network certification or above (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, CCSP, CCIP, CCVP, CCIE)

Over 5 years engineering, installing, configuring, and supporting WAN connectivity solutions (SDWAN,
Ethernet over MPLS, Site-to-Site VPN, etc.)

Over 5 years network engineering experience supporting and troubleshooting in large data center environments

Over 5 years configuring and supporting routing protocols such as BGP and EIGRP

Over 5 years configuring and supporting switching technologies (STP, VPC, FabricPath, ACI, VxLAN, etc.)

Over 5 years configuring and supporting enterprise wide DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (DDI)

Over 5 years configuring and supporting Cisco Nexus Switches

Over 5 years configuring and supporting Cisco routers/switches, Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco VPN, Cisco
Wireless, Bluecat DNS, F5 Load balancing (GTM and LTM) and Symantec/Bluecoat Proxies

Over 5 years experience in Network life cycle management and refresh processes

Cisco SIP installation / Support Experience

Understanding of Network Monitoring & taking appropriate actions

Fault and Performance: Zabbix, Nagios, Solarwinds, CA Suite Spectrum, CAPM (CA Performance Manager), netflow to ELK

Packet Analysis: Netscout and Wireshark

Logging: ELK and Splunk

Configuration and Automation: HPNA/Microfocus Network Automation, Cisco Prime

Must understand, configure, and have knowledge of network automation scripting including Python, Ansible, etc.

Incident management - Identify network issues and determine and recommend appropriate solutions


Mandatory Requirements

Shift work is required

Support 24x7x365 global network data center operations

Participate in the on-call rotation schedule for after-hours and weekend support

Ability to understand and work in a complex network with moderate supervision in a global team environment

Excellent customer service and English communications skills (written and oral)

Fluency in ticketing systems (eg., ServiceNow, and BMC Remedy) and ITIL-like processes and procedures

Assist in the Change Management process as necessary, including participating in maintenance activities during off hours including weekends
