Job Description
SQL DBA
In this role, the Database Administrator will work with a highly collaborative team and will play a key role in developing and maintaining the technology base and delivering new platform functionality.
They are responsible for developing, supporting, performance tuning, data structures, and data connection technologies that support business and application development requirements with a focus on data integrity and security.
The DBA works with the Infrastructure Architect, Data Engineer, and other stakeholders to facilitate project deliverables.
The ideal candidate will be capable of working both independently and in a team setting.
Additionally, the successful DBA will be self-motivated and a quick learner who can adapt in a constantly changing environment, diverse requirements, and project demands efficiently and effectively.
Job Competencies
This position is roughly 70% database administration, 20% database development, and 10% other tasks.
Program and develop SQL scripts, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, constraints, etc.
Maintaining and refactoring legacy schemas and creating normalized tables
Modeling and/or documenting database objects and schemas
Meeting with business stakeholders and other technical team members to gather and analyze application requirements
Performing administrative, maintenance, backup, monitoring, and performance tuning tasks on the database
Identifying and applying proactive solutions and corrective measures to minimize downtime
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain database systems
Performs tasks related to technical support and maintenance of SQL Server including installation of new releases/patches of SQL Server and related client software and middleware.
Keeps current with software industry developments related to the SQL Server market and makes recommendations for continued improvements. Also performs product research and provides technological solutions.
Responsible for the support of all SQL Server databases within the group's scope.
Designing database solutions to satisfy business requirements
Assisting Application Developers with the creation of queries and database functions, provide guidance on performance and optimization
Proven ability to work with data in a confidential manner.
Work on multiple projects concurrently with accuracy and within time and budget constraints.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. BA/BS in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred
6+ years SQL administrator experience with Microsoft SQL Server
2+ years supporting application development teams/projects
Strong understanding of data modeling and database concepts
Strong experience with SQL queries, CTE, stored procedures, views, security, maintenance, connection drivers, data providers, and scripting
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must also demonstrate a sense of urgency, take initiative, sense of ownership of their work, strong team player, constant desire to improve, positive attitude, and willing to learn and experience a new environment.
Experience with the following will be viewed as a plus:
Cloud technologies such as Azure SQL, Azure Tables
Experience with Oracle database products
Familiarity with ETL tools and methodologies (SSIS, Matillion)
Comfortability with C#/.NET
Experience with BI/DW concepts and platforms (SSAS, Snowflake, Tableau)
Report and report scheduling software (SSRS, R-TAG, Crystal Reports)
