Job Description
The Systems Engineer's primary responsibility is to provide strategic technical solutions and application engineering support to both the mission critical operational environment, as well as customer based projects.
This role is responsible for the preparation of data management strategies and architectures that best support the business goals and plans.
The systems engineer is expected to take a lead role in the ongoing design and maturing of the technical environment.
They are expected to work with management and the architecture team to plan a technology roadmap and to work towards its implementation.
The Systems Engineer's responsibility is to operate the organization's Citrix systems, networks, and applications.
This includes installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining the company's investments in proprietary Citrix technologies.
Additional responsibilities include the design, development and enforcement of Citrix standards.
This includes the associated controls, procedures and monitoring to insure compliance and accuracy of data.
The role also evaluates, recommends and installs new and/or enhanced Citrix hardware/software.
The Systems Engineer is expected to transfer knowledge, support and train the team of Operations Analysts.
They should work to transfer all repetitive tasks to the operations team.
The Systems Engineer will provide guidance around the monitoring and management of the organization's servers and systems.
This includes installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting as needed.
This individual will apply proven skills to solve issues related to the efficient operation of systems installed in the corporate data centers.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 8 years IT experience
Minimum 4 years experience in data analysis, design, file structures, retrieval and access methods,
capacity planning, enterprise-wide data modeling, strategic planning, project implementation, installation/support of Citrix Server Farms, including user and Published Applications
Superior Customer Service skills
Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Good process design and implementation skills
Attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
Proven track record in working with multiple initiatives and projects at the same time
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of the following:
Extensive knowledge and support of XenServers, XenApp 1.8, 4.0, and 4.5, XenApp 5.0 and 6
Extensive knowledge of Citrix Server Software installation/configuration
Citrix Presentation Server (including Metaframe, Xenapp, etc)
Citrix Access Gateway
VMware ESX Server (VMware Infrastructure 3.x)
• VMware Virtual Center
• VMware HA
• VMware DRS
• VMware-related LAN technologies (VLANs, NIC teaming/bonding,
EDUCATION/DESIGNATIONS/LICENSES:
Certificate , diploma or degree from a recognized institution
CCA, CCAA, CCEE
VCP-DCV, VCP-NV
MCSE accreditation an asset
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are required
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
