Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Java/Unix developer to join our Common Services development team.

The Common Services team provides the foundational components, frameworks and utilities upon which all new applications are built.

The Common Services team is at the forefront of innovation and is integral to the development of new products.

Developers work closely with the Strategy, Architecture, Infrastructure and Application Delivery teams to define and implement new features and capabilities.

Qualifications Required:

5+ years' experience developing complex, mission critical transaction processing applications

Strong Core Java and Web development experience in a UNIX environment (preferably RHEL) using WebSphere, Tomcat and IBM MQ

Experience in implementing Java EE design patterns such as MVC, Singleton, Session Facade, DAO, DTO, and Business Delegate in the development of Multi-Tier distributed Enterprise Applications

UNIX Shell scripting

Experience with relational databases such as DB2, Oracle

Ability to write SQL queries and stored procedures

Ability to work effectively cross-organizationally

Attention to detail and ability to drive tasks to completion

Strong knowledge of waterfall and/or Agile SDLCs and practices

Experience with build automation tools and CI/CD pipeline software such as TFS, Git, Jenkins, Maven, etc.

Experience developing Web Services SOAP, JAX-WS, WSDL

Excellent team player with good analytical, strategic planning and interpersonal and communication skills

Highly motivated, enthusiastic and self-starter

Qualifications Desired:

Money transfer experience especially knowledge of SWIFT, FED or CHIPS payment processing and settlement

Experience with ISO 20022 payment formats

Experience with functional programming languages such as Haskell, Erlang, Scala, etc.

Experience with OpenShift, API Gateways, Docker, Kubernetes and AWS

Experience working with Spring Framework such as Spring MVC, IOC, AOP and Spring JDBC

Experience designing front end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and React

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Work with Product Management, Technology and Operations as well as external clients to create and maintain detailed functional and technical specifications

Develop new functionality and perform defect fixes

Complete tasks and projects in a timely manner

Assist in defining and documenting support procedures

Assist in training QA and Operations staff in functionality and operation of the system
