Job Description
AWS ENGINEER
A global financial organization is actively seeking an experienced AWS Engineer to help them develop and build their brand new Cloud team.
The ideal AWS Engineer candidate will have an AWS infrastructure and development mix of skills.
Also looking for a senior-level resource who can be a leader on a team responsible for planning, building and supporting the company's technologies that are running in AWS.
You will be integral in helping to set the direction, establish and enforce standards, implementing solutions, staying updated on current trends, developing best practices and helping to guide new initiatives that will be deployed into AWS.
Excellent communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership on a team of engineers responsible for operating and deploying cloud infrastructure
Drive discussions regarding trade-offs, best practices and risk mitigations for Cloud deployments based on hands-on, real world experience gained deploying cloud workloads at scale
Design and implement cloud frameworks and deployments by leveraging previous experience, utilizing best practices and industry standards
Educate and mentor team members, operations staff and other departments on AWS concepts
Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions in a 24/7 production environment
Monitor and research cloud technologies and stay current with trends in the industry
Requirements
Practical experience with 4+ years in a relevant role as a Systems Engineer, SRE, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent
Extensive experience with primary AWS services (EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch and S3, Lambda, Fargate)
Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
Demonstrable knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient application design
Experience implementing highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise software deployments at scale by leveraging industry standard tools, such as: git, jenkins, terraform, cdk or equivalent
Infrastructure automation through coding and/or scripting: Python (preferred), Bash, Perl, Java, Ruby, Powershell, Go
Configuration management using CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, or similar
Strong practical Linux and Windows-based system administration skills in a cloud or virtualized environment
Experience managing production operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
Experience with authentication/authorization Oauth, SAML, SSO, OpenID, IAM, 2FA, Active Directory and ADFS
Integration of cloud services with on premise technologies from Microsoft, Oracle, SAP etc.
Degree in software engineering discipline or equivalent experience preferred
Exposure to and familiarity with Kafka, Cloudera, Hadoop, or similar preferred
Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies preferred
Experience with compliance and risk management requirements (e.g. security, privacy, SOX, etc.) preferred
