Job description

Our client is a privately owned firm that launched its first investment vehicle in 2006.

Since that time, the firm has grown to be known for its offering of a series of closed-end opportunistic funds and an open-end core real estate fund exclusively targeting the areas of education, healthcare and storage real estate.

The firm has raised nearly $6.0 billion in discretionary equity capital for its real estate offerings.

The firm currently manages in excess of $10.6 billion in real estate assets across the US through both its Closed-end Opportunistic Real Estate Funds and its Open-end Core Fund.

Job Description: Specific duties will include:

Coordinate with third party service provider for preparation of taxable income projections as well as federal and state tax returns for corporations, REITs, and pass-through entities.

Assist in tracking all required tax filings, including estimates, extensions and tax returns and ensuring all are timely filed.

Communicate with property managers and joint venture accountants to obtain all necessary information.

Assist in responding to federal and state notices and with federal and state audits, as necessary.

Assist with REIT compliance and FATCA compliance.

Coordinate with the accounting department to document ASC 740, prepare REIT testing and ensure all proper tax disclosures are included in order to comply with regulatory agencies.

Perform tax research and prepare memorandums outlining findings and conclusions for tax treatment related to strategic transactions and acquisitions.

Prepare tax basis schedules for various investments to ensure proper treatment of distributions and sales.

Analyze and assist with quarterly tax withholding requirements and impact of asset dispositions on REITs, partnerships, corporations, and investors.

Understand fund structures and tax implications of transactions to the structure and investors.

Understand foreign tax implications for both foreign investors and international fund structuring.

Assist in responding to investor's tax inquiries.

Understand complex partner allocations and disclosures, including the tax impact to foreign or tax-exempt partners.

Keep abreast of changes in industry regulation, maintain competency through continuing
education and obtaining professional certifications.

Background Required

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required

CPA/JD required

1-2+ years of tax experience in public accounting or within real estate industry.

Technical skills regarding partnership, REIT and corporate tax compliance and consulting issues.

Knowledge of GAAP income tax accounting and application of ASC 740 for year-end reporting
requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proactive detail-oriented professional with excellent problem solving capabilities.

Exceptional organization and time management skills as well as an eagerness to learn.
