Job Description

Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities for the enterprise’s network infrastructure including data center technologies, enterprise routing and switching, wireless, wide area connectivity.

Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to the IT network team to ensure the highest quality network services are delivered to all associates and external customers.

Operational responsibilities include 24x7x365 support, capacity planning, project delivery, networking installations and problem resolution across the company’s network technologies and data centers.

Accountable for network systems software and hardware selection and development and continued maintenance of such systems to improve efficiencies.

Primary Responsibilities

Directs all project and engineering efforts related to LAN, WAN, Wireless, data center

Maintains system integrity and performance by ensuring the design and configuration meet the needs of the entire enterprise

Negotiates and procures hardware, software and services from multiple vendors for new implementations and upgrades

Develops and fosters a team atmosphere that exhibits teamwork within the team and with other IT teams

Acts as the relationship owner for related services including voice and data network providers

Manages people, processes, expense and project budgets, performance management,
compliance activities, and associate development as required by the job

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Ability/Other

Ability to plan, organize, and manage resources to bring projects to completion

Strong communication and organization skills

Advanced analytical and problem solving skills required

Ability to design and support a multi-vendor data center infrastructure environment

Strong knowledge of network protocols, technologies and products related to VoIP,
security, routing and switching and core data center solutions

Strong knowledge of Juniper and Cisco data center routers and switches

Strong knowledge of Client switches and Aruba wireless infrastructure

Strong knowledge of Infoblox DNS / DHCP and related experience

Strong knowledge of network management and monitoring tools, such as: Solarwinds, Netflow, etc.

Ability to stay current with new technologies and best practices

Education/Experience

B.S. in Computer Science or related field highly desired. Equivalent work experience considered.

Prior management experience (projects, resources, and staff)

Minimum five (5) years of proven success leading and managing a team of network engineers

Minimum seven (7) years of experience working in a hands-on networking/engineering role responsible for a large-scale environment

Applicable professional certifications desired, such as CCNA, CCNE, CCIE, and ITIL.
