Job Description

SYSTEMS AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Seeking an experienced Systems Automation Engineer to join a global professional services organization.

The Systems Automation Engineer will be the SME for vRealize Orchestrator and Powershell and will help sets standards and procedures for the Corporate IT team.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable performing as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for many Microsoft related enterprise infrastructure services in a hybrid cloud and on premise hosting model, taking a lead role in monitoring/operational health management, security patching and have best in class troubleshooting abilities.

This candidate must be comfortable working on multiple initiatives and actively engaging with different teams. Excellent communication skills are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Approve Microsoft technology, security updates, hot fixes, upgrades and version releases to ensure architecture stability. Work with the other engineers on the team to push these updates as needed to the environment.

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including: standard operations guidelines and procedures; inventory checklists; deployment guides; budget information; training guides; and support materials.

Create and maintain a knowledgebase with common problems and resolutions

All documentation around system configuration contributing to the IT Operations units to drive OLA maturity/efficiency.

Mentor less senior staff in the execution of their duties

Review current processes and procedures and identify opportunities to orchestrate or automate these activities.

Report to management on password change issues, vulnerabilities, or risks that are not being addressed in a timely manner after escalation paths have not resulted in change.

Constantly maintain and enhance the infrastructure security readiness of all operating systems, application, database, and webservers, networking and infrastructure devices and equipment with all the required upgrades and up to date patching levels

Works on overall design and process improvements of the System Administration as a Service offering

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

7+ years system engineering experience in an enterprise environment, with 3 years experience doing automation

vRealize Automation and Orchestrator required

Powershell scripting required

Strong background in Windows Server 2008/2012 engineering and troubleshooting

VMware or Hyper-V experience

Microsoft Active Directory

Strong ability to analyze issues and problem solve applying foundational concepts

Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders both verbally and in writing

Ability to communicate complex technical issues to users with little technical background/expertise

Exceptional ability to organize and manage multiple projects, set priorities and work independently under aggressive timelines.

Extensive knowledge of core infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, IIS, AD group policies, Exchange, File Services, etc.

Be responsive to customer needs which may sometimes require work outside of normal business hours or on-call responsibilities

Deep knowledge of systems management, scripting and automation

MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, RHCA, or MCTS or other professional certification required
