Technical Sales Engineer

The Technical Sales Engineer will work closely with the US Sales Team (and other teams occasionally, if required) to qualify opportunities and provide technical design solutions to Epsilon carrier and service provider customers.

The role is highly technical in nature and the individual will be required to work with and support internal departments such as Sales Support, Service Delivery, Procurement, Product Management, and Engineering teams to support successful delivery of the solutions.

Our Client is looking for an experienced Sales Engineer with knowledge of Ethernet, Transmission (SDH/SONET, OTN, DWDM), SD WAN, MPLS (both Layer 2 Ethernet and Layer 3 IVPN), IP Transit, IX Peering and Cloud services.

We are looking for customer focused, proactive and highly motivated individual who seeks accountability and who continually strive for excellence.

The Sales Engineer must be commercially aware and deal with time sensitive tasks and be able to communicate at all levels.

You must be able to work effectively in our local US based office, and work across different time zones with technical teams and colleagues located at our international offices.

You should be prepared to look for information yourself and must be able to defend your opinions, ensuring your sales colleagues follow process.

You should be excited about cultural diversity, be able to manage internal stakeholder’s expectations, collaborate with your colleagues and set the standard to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction and continued engagement.

You should also have an interest in sharing information with your colleagues to help them enhance their technical knowledge of best practices, industry insights and technology in general.

Duties & Responsibilities

To be the lead technical contact / authority on the assigned accounts for all pre and post sales activities by engaging with customers via face to face meetings, conference calls and emails to understand their technical and business needs.

Understand in detail Epsilon’s products/offerings both from a technical, commercial, and operational perspective and being able to design a range of technical solutions both standard and non-standard with an emphasis on layers 1 to 3.

Be proactive by Identifying gaps in standard offerings and propose alternatives to internal stakeholders for discussion and approval.

Demonstrate products and proposed solutions to technical and non-technical audiences at executive and/or technical levels at pre and post sales meetings.

Provide ALL information required to enable an orderly pre to post sales transition, to ensure solutions are delivered quickly and work first time to maximize revenue realization, and customer satisfaction.

5-10 years working experience in a technical telecoms/IT environment

2-3 years in a pre-sales technical support role.

Degree / Diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology OR related discipline

Excellent knowledge and experience working with Ethernet, Transmission (SDH/SONET, OTN, DWDM), SD WAN, MPLS (both Layer 2 Ethernet and Layer 3 IVPN), IP Transit, IX Peering and Cloud services

Software skills (Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint, CRM, etc.)
