Job Description

Linux System & Automation Engineer :

Strong experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Linux 5/6/7, CentOS 5/6/7, Ubuntu 12/14, x86/x64 and Windows 2000/2003/2008/10 platforms.

Strong experience in RHEL 6/7 Linux administration, performance tuning and support experience

Strong Shell scripting (bash/ksh, PERL, Python, Power Shell )

Have strong understanding in at least several of the following areas: Virtualization, Storage, Data
Protection, Monitoring and Infrastructure protocols and services such as: TCP/IP, DNS, Proxy, LDAP/AD,
NTP, Telnet, SSH, FTP DNS, SNMP, DHCP Firewall, TCP/IP and VPN.

Strong understanding of storage technologies such as: NAS, DAS, FC, FCOE, and iSCSI.

Strong knowledge of Hardware: Client ProLiant DL580 G6, DL380 G6, DL980 G7, Dell PowerEdge R330,
R730, R630, and Cisco switches.

Strong understanding of Client/DELL hardware management tools such as: iLo and Idrac ,etc.

Resolving networking issues using tools such as: traceroute, netstat, Wireshark, tcpdump, nslookup, dig, sshd, nfsd, mountd, lockd, etc.

Knowledsge of Virtualization and Hypervisior technologies such as : VMware ESXI 5.5/6.0/6.5, Citrix Xen
Server, Hyper-V, etc.

Knowledge of Enterprise Backup technologies such as: Symantec NetBackup, Commvault, IDPA, AVamar , etc.

Knowledge of monitoring software a protocols such as: Nagios, SNMP and SolarWinds.

Knowledge of DevOps tools such as: Puppet, Docker, IBM Object Storage Cloud, Ansible, AWS, GitHub,
Splunk, Jenkins and cron jobs,

Managing day to day operations on Red Hat Cluster environment.

Perform Linix System inventory, OS upgrades and patch installations.

Ability to manage and schedule the automated jobs

Ability to provision Linux bare metal installs, configure, operate and maintain systems.

Working with Business System owners to architect and maintain highly available production systems and minimize down time.

Building and provisioning of RHEL servers using automated approach with PXE boot and custom kick start files.

Resolving Linux CPU, Disk, Load utilization issues

Setting up NFS and Autofs for mounting the resources

Creating and extending files system such as etx3, ext4, XFS

Working with an enterprise wide, large scale matrix environment

Experience in working with Service Now & JIRA ticketing

Ability to plan and prioritize work and meet project deadlines

Must be self-motivated and work well with other IT & Business groups

Excellent communication skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
