Job Description

STATISTICIAN PROGRAMMER- SAS

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Statistician provides in-depth analysis of project data using appropriate statistical methods to meet internal and external client needs.

Manages, directs and oversees all CRICO Strategies Comprehensive Risk Intelligence Tool (CRIT) reports.

Produces queries and/or reports from various databases, including Access, SQL, Checkbox® and CRIT.

Reports results in a variety of settings including meetings, presentations, and written reports.

Maintains project databases, works with audit staff to ensure data collection requirements are met, and assists with development of new databases.______________________________________________________________________________________

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hands-on statistical analysis of existing and new datasets, including descriptive statistics, regression models, and other appropriate statistical methods

Manages, directs and oversees CRICO Strategies Comprehensive Risk Intelligence Tool (CRIT) reports. Resource for internal and external clients working with CRIT reporting tool

Use CRIT to capture and analyze clinical data pertaining to open and closed claims

Attend CRICO webinars and conference calls as needed

Plan data collection methods for projects, and determine the sample sizes of groups to be used

Report results of statistical analyses, including information in form of graphs, charts and tables

Display and present data in a meaningful and easy to understand manner

Develop automated, customized reports in Access databases

Monitor historical and current data trends

Provide consultations, data management and analysis

Conduct quality checks of data

Assist in writing abstract, articles, publications and reports of findings from analyses, as well as study design and methodology and sections for publications

Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned

PERFORMANCE METRICS:

Develop appropriate and accurate statistical models for interpretation of existing and new datasets

Maintain and make modifications to existing databases

Prepare and update analyses based on the type of datasets being analyzed

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Education/Certification

• Masters required (MS or MPH in Biostatistics, Statistics, or equivalent

Experience Required

• 4 plus years in Healthcare industry with quality/process improvement focus, with understanding of medical terminology and clinical care

Skills/Abilities

4 plus years of SAS programming (SAS Institute base certification preferred)

Strong background in Access including the ability to write modules using SQL and VBA

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying

complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand

and interpret complex information from others

Advanced MS Excel skills

Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
