Job Description

This Platform Engineer will play a hands-on role driving the application platforms within the organization.
This individual will be responsible for the all aspects of the application platform and security.

S/he will work closely influencing Business Sponsors, Scrum Masters and Peer Architects while driving our digital modernization efforts.

As a member the architecture team, you will supply to the modernization of our company.

You will work with architecture and application teams to help cultivate innovation, drive standardization and deliver on new technology patterns across the stack.

You will drive product roadmap evolution in conjunction with business unit product goals.

You will provide leadership in adoption of platforms and consolidation across department initiatives.

What You'll Do

Design, implement and operate application platforms like Kafka, Redis, Greylog.

Providing leadership in Proof of Concepts (POCs) for assessment of technical and business benefits.
Growing our agile development culture through use of excellent engineering skills and a deep knowledge of industry standard methodologies.

Collaborating and coordinating across multiple scrum teams.

Ability to drive platform architecture design and ownership and articulate architecture solution options to product owners and architecture leadership.

Ensure technology decisions align with enterprise standards and strategy.

Evaluate and recommend technology and frameworks for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market.

Demonstrable ability to analyze business direction and problems, understand long term vision and risk in developing strategic technical solutions.

Work closely with Product/Application teams in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation and configuration.

Authoritative understanding of the agile development process and DevOps practices.

Collaborating with peer architects seeing opportunities to refactor business processes, improve customer experience or perform capability rationalization.

Required Skills and Experience

Deep hands on experience in application platforms like Kafka, Redis

Broad experience in automation using Ansible, Python, Cloudformation

Validated software development background with Java, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Spring Framework/Spring
Boot, and web application technologies in a service-focused architecture.

Experience with cloud design patterns and containers is a plus.

Proven ability to build and maintain effective, trusting partnerships with product managers, architects and technical leads for individual products and applications

Proven and comprehensive knowledge of APIs, UIs, infrastructure, data architecture, security, and new technologies.

Ability to work both independently and with all levels of the organization, including technical and non-technical team members.

Financial industry experience is a plus

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

Minimum of 5-7 years of industry experience in an architecture and/or software engineering role

Your ability to provide technical leadership and hands on day-to-day solutions to agile teams, preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions.

Your deep understanding of messaging and caching platforms

Your proven track record of critical thinking, with the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.

Your passion for technology and do not limit yourself to a set of languages or frameworks. You love what
you do and are eager to seek new challenges.

Your strong presentation skills: written and verbal communication including the ability to influence. Your deep knowledge of the agile development process and DevOps practices.

Your willingness to share knowledge with others to improve the whole team.
