BioTech Specialist
Description
Function: Customer acquisition, business development, and Sales of high-value, innovative pharmaceutical packaging and systems (primarily specialty vials, syringes, and cartridges) to market segments including small biotech, small CROs / CDMOs, universities, medical centers, and compound pharmacies (including registered USFDA registered 503B companies).
Utilization of external as well as internal company resources (such as online web shop, CRM, Business Development, Sales, andMarketing) to identify, develop, and grow company's business.
Responsibilities:
Focus efforts on new customer acquisition in market segments including small biotech, small CROs / CDMOs, universities, medical centers, and compound pharmacies (including registered USFDA registered 503B companies)
Research and compile lists of potential customer targets from external resources including the internet as well as internal databases and systems, such as CRM
Promote company innovative products and drive traffic to company's online web shop via
Follow through with customer leads to ensure clients are properly trained to utilize company's online web shop to purchase kits of innovative containers, components and systems
Provide support to other Sales team members to assist R&D centers of Global Key Accounts and regional accounts to become setup and trained in the utilization of company's online web shop to purchase kits of innovative containers, components, and systems
Be proficient in understanding of pharmaceutical packaging and systems. Possess ability to explain, discuss, and promote product features, benefits, and values. Call upon company Business Development resources for advanced technical support
Work closely with Marketing, Product Management, and IT resources to provide updates on market trends, competitor information, and new product opportunities to ensure effectiveness of company online web shop and offerings
Assist with customer support for product application, questions, issues, and concerns
Coordinate / organize internal and external customer visits as needed
Prepare price quotations for delivery to customers as needed.
Provide weekly and monthly updates and reports on customer visits and territorial activities
Be proactive as a team member and player to implement and reach both departmental, plant and corporate objectives & goals
Continuously identify / pursue new markets, products, and clients
Actively participate in yearly budgeting process and monthly updates
Utilize CRM system in a timely manner to process sample requests, document customer contacts, visits, and opportunities / projects for later reference / follow-up
Maintain accurate, detailed customer files / information
Utilize CRM system to mine "cold leads” to routinely call (every 6 – 12 months) to determine if new projects / activities have arisen
Support Sales Director in providing training (on-the-job-training, training in systems such as CRM / BI, etc.), and support to new or less-experienced Sales personnel
Work with Sales Director and VP Sales & Marketing – North America on Sales forecasts and budgets, various projects (as needed) in support of the sales / marketing strategy, business development targets, and organizational goals
Continuously promote customer service excellence and satisfaction
Be judicious in the use of company provided and covered expenses
Ensure that customer accounts payable are managed
Global and regional travel required
Follow cGMP practices and safety policies / procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
BA / BS in Business or Life Sciences
Strong technical aptitude to understand and promote products is a must
General knowledge of pharma / biotech industry is a plus
Previous sales activity (1-3 years), preferably involving cold-calling
Self-motivated Sales hunter.; must possess resilience required to make 20 – 40 cold calls per day via phone call / e-mail, without becoming discouraged despite a typical rejection rate of 98-99%.
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as a polite phone demeanor
Strong organization skills
Willingness to travel approximately 25-50% as required for training, tradeshows, and business meetings
