Job Description

The Nature and Scope of the Position:

The Senior Software Engineer is a Leader on a team responsible for designing, developing, operating and improving Web applications, API and Web services.

She/he will set the standard on a high-performing team empowered to build our next generation of products using modern technologies and development techniques.

Main Responsibilities:

Works on a fast-paced, autonomous, agile team to build and enhance growing software products & platforms

Provides technical leadership throughout the technical design, build, test, deploy, and operate feedback loop

Owns end to end feature releases and platform enhancements and accountability to the solution quality

Actively participates in the technical design process, bringing expertise and analysis to help make data-driven decisions.

Contributes heavily to feature design, development, testing, and delivery of our platform and applications.

Contributes across all parts of our platform from the database to the frontend.

Continuously discovers, evaluates, and implements new technologies or services to maximize development quality & efficiency.

Actively participates in thinking at the "Systems Level", as required by the DevOps mindset.

Mentors other Developers on the team.

Responsible for software development, implementation, and ongoing improvements.

Develops and enhances product offerings in accordance with design and consistent with business objectives.

Ensures that team commitments are met with a quality-first mindset

Ensures that solutions being developed are effective and take into consideration performance implications for a production environment.

Provides estimates for development efforts as needed.

Reviews and understands business requirements.

Assists with production support issues as they arise.

Maintains confidentiality of all information.

Performs other duties as assigned.

"Must Have" Experience:

7+ years in software development positions, at least 2 of them being part of an Agile team.

Strong Experience in languages such as Java, J2EE.

Experience in Microservices, spring boot and other spring frameworks.

Experience in working with AWS.

Working knowledge containerization technologies like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm or Rancher.

Experience with SQL and other databases.

A passion for tearing down the wall between Dev and Ops and fostering a DevOps mindset

Assembly, deployment, troubleshooting, and monitoring of J2EE applications

Working knowledge of ReactJS, Bootstrap, Angular

Experience using a Source Configuration Management tool such as SVN, Mercurial, Ant/Maven/Gradle, Git

Experience with common software development practices such as version control, unit testing, advanced refactoring techniques and CI/CD

Passion for building quality products and want to own product development end-to-end leading with the right design and development principles

Experience working on software development teams, building and deploying full stack applications

Team player and interest in working in a collaborative environment

Bonus Experience

Deep expertise in designing and implementing fully automated container-based deployment solutions like Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, or others

Experience identifying relevant metrics both at a team productivity and software performance level

Experience using the Atlassian suite of tools including Jira, Bitbucket, Crucible, Confluence
