Job Description

NETWORK ENGINEER

Seeking an experienced Lead Network Engineer to join a global financial institution working with the latest and greatest network technology.

As a Lead Network Engineer, you will supporting the Corporate IT Network and provide leadership in network design, validation, deployment, maintenance and 24x7 operational support.

As part of the Network Engineering team, this role will help further advance one of the largest financial networks globally with a wide variety of critical services, including helping drive large scale data center refreshes both on premise and cloud.

Ideally Network Engineers will have experience with Cisco and Arista or Juniper and must have solid scripting skills.

Excellent communication skills are required as you will be working with a global team and other IT teams within the organization.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, support and maintain mixed vendor network infrastructure

Develop, document and publish architectural standards and designs

Assist colleagues with problem solving and escalation procedures

Understand and follow operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same

Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective, and efficient changes to the network infrastructure

Assist with development of policies and procedures for maintaining network infrastructure

Collaborate and work closely with all other IT teams

Lead incident investigations, diagnosis, and service restoration and always give priority to the resolution of incidents

Be a subject matter expert and provide guidance to other Engineers (troubleshooting, design, on-boarding, risk mitigation, operational improvement)

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering preferred but not required

10+ years of experience with hands on support and troubleshooting of networks

6+ years of experience with design and implementation on complex works

In depth knowledge of general network principles and technology, and how to apply them in a service-oriented mission critical environment

Extensive network routing protocols and troubleshooting skills in BGP and OSPF

Extensive knowledge of IP Multicast - RP, PIM, IGMP and MSDP

In depth knowledge of Juniper products and JUNOS and/or Arista products and EOS

Strong configuration management and scripting experience (Ansible, Python, etc.)

Able to lead technical projects from design through implementation and rollout

Able to multitask in a dynamic team-based environment

Strong understanding of current and future network technology direction

Running and analyzing sniffer traces with deep TCP/IP protocol understanding

Understanding of network management, security and monitoring

Excellent communication and documentation skills

Excellent customer service attitude

Able to operate effectively and professionally under pressure

Experience automating Azure or AWS cloud deployments nice to have

Expert level network certifications: CCIE, JNCIE. etc., F5, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto advanced certification nice to have
