Job Description

RELEASE ENGINEER

A global financial institution is seeking an experienced Release Engineer to join their established team.
The Release Engineer will be responsible for the health and efficiency of the SDLC build infrastructure, which includes performing root cause analysis and system enhancements to address underlying issues.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in administration and support of the specific tools in the environment - Bitbucket, Jira, Atlassian, and/or Jenkins - with some Python or Java coding for automation.
You will be the go-to person troubleshooting or resolving issues within these applications in the build process.

Excellent communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

Design, plan and implement of enterprise grade integrated solutions

Evaluate current solutions for efficiency and process improvements

Manage user permissions for tools according to the needs of projects and teams

Participate in 24x7 On-Call rotation to address critical build issues and system changes

Proactively troubleshoot and resolve system/application issues in real time

Work with stakeholders to identify requirements and requests to improve existing systems

Application support and administration for SDLC Applications such as Jira, Bitbucket, Artifactory, and Jenkins

Manage application configurations, patch levels and evolution paths

Test new versions of the tools and plug-ins to ensure compatibility and functionality

Coordinate with developers, operations staff, and release engineers to perform system changes

Educate and mentor team junior members

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in CIS, MIS or equivalent professional experience

3+ years in a Release Engineer or Jira Administrator or DevOps Administrator role

Advanced understanding of the end to end SDLC process, and tools

Functional scripting knowledge (Perl, Bash, Python, PowerShell and/or others)

Experience in automation tool development and methodologies

Fundamental knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RedHat variants preferred)

Fundamental knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (2008+)

Experience in an enterprise grade systems and environments

Strong initiative to learn and assimilate new software/technologies and improve business processes

Top-tier analytics and problem-solving skills

Customer focused and dedicated to the best possible user experience

Able to communicate effectively with both technical and business resources

Strong understanding of Project Management, organization, and time management

Basic understanding of SQL Database concepts (Oracle, MySQL)

Relevant industry certifications such as Atlassian Jira Administrator and/or Jira Project Administrator Certifications
