Job Description

Senior Network Firewall Administrator with strong experience with VMWare Implementation and administration, implementation of cloud technologies, and strong experience with UNIX Scripting (e.g., Perl, Bash, TCL cURL), among other needs.

Senior Network Firewall Administrator with strong experience with VMWare Implementation and administration, implementation of cloud technologies, and strong experience with UNIX Scripting (e.g., Perl, Bash, TCL cURL).

This individual will support the IDPH network infrastructure to ensure IDPH network resources are available at all times to no impact on the IDPH systems and services. The objective is to provide network support and services to IDPH in order to ensure COVID 19 resources are always available.

These functions get performed in the enterprise hosting and networking environment, which hosts hundreds of virtual and physical servers in multiple locations and supports functions and business-critical services for executive branch agencies.

Responsibilities:
* Provide operational support for routers, switches, and firewalls for security, performance, capacity, and service capabilities.
* Configure and maintain secure network infrastructure in conformance with security standards and best practices. Assigned systems include enterprise networking environments with a significant impact on delivering services to customers, internal to the state government, and the public.
* Provide network architect support in the form of infrastructure assessments of agency LANs and WANs; creation of logical and conceptual network diagrams; monitoring, analysis, problem resolution, and changes.
* Manage networks and assigned systems to prevent unauthorized access while ensuring efficient transmission. Perform log management and monitoring.
* Firewall support: Plan, schedule, and implement access through the firewalls in conformance with security standards and best practices.
* Adhere to a defined incident/change management process.
* Maintain regular communication with other technical teams and business owners.
* Work with customers to develop testing and implementation schedules as needed.
* Maintain technical documentation of the environment.

Requirements:
* 7+ years network switching, routing, IP addressing, Internet connectivity, security, and firewall administration to include data network implementation, maintenance, analysis, and support using the Cisco family of data networking products. [7 YEARS REQUIRED]
* 7+ years full-time senior-level technical support experience in a complex enterprise networking environment, including analytical, problem solving, and project management skills. [7 YEARS REQUIRED]
* 5+ years of experience with advanced diagnostics equipment and tools, routing protocols, network management tools, remote access, Ethernet, and WAN technologies. [5 YEARS REQUIRED]
* 1+ years of Visio skills strongly preferred.

Must have:
1. Working knowledge of network fundamentals that includes IP networking, topologies, and security concepts.
2. Strong experience with VMWare Implementation and administration.
3. Strong experience implementing cloud technologies
4. Strong experience with UNIX Scripting skills (e.g., PERL, BASH, TCL cURL)
5. Ability to schedule, coordinate, and plan effectively.
6. Can communicate clearly and interact well with individuals at all levels of responsibility.
