Uniquely integrated in Westmead Health & Innovation District – the largest health, education, research and innovation precinct in the country, VVMF is the first commercial manufacturing facility of its kind in Australia. With a vision to be a leading commercial viral vector contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), VVMF will design, develop, manufacture and deliver advanced therapeutic solutions to companies, customers and patients across the globe.
VVMF is a “for-profit”, registered independent commercial entity, started with initial funding from NSW Government.
The Position
Reporting to the CEO, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of modern medicine and play a part in the creation of a true first for Australia.
The COO will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of facility, including the key functions of Manufacturing Operations, Technology Transfer, R&D, PMO, Engineering & Site Services, and Supply Chain & Logistics.
Specifically, the position will include:
Establishment of best-in-class manufacturing principles, processes, technologies, and people management.
Creation of manufacturing governance, including planning and scheduling, production, inventory control, training staff, facility maintenance, establishing, monitoring and improving key performance indicators, and tracking organisation’s operating plans.
Responsibility for all aspects of operational and capital expenditure
Responsibility for the recruitment, development, and leadership of an agile and high-performing team.
You – The COO
You will:
Be an authentic, aspirational, executive leader with deep GMP and GxP understanding, manufacturing operations and technical expertise gained within a commercial, highly regulated industry, inc. biopharmaceuticals, dietary / health supplements, food manufacturing and / or medical devices.
Have strong project management and execution skills, able to plan, conduct, and manage multiple projects and prioritise as needed within a start-up environment.
Be agile, versatile and very comfortable “working within the grey”: just as willing and able to provide expert oversight as you will be at designing, building and implementing processes and controls from their inception.
Have exceptional stakeholder management, commercial and strategic acumen and people leadership skills.
