Job Description
The Trade Risk Analyst position provides energy market analysis, risk management policy review, market participant interaction and quantitative financial analysis support to Risk Management. This will involve review and understanding of documents detailing financial risk and its management, market factors affecting the energy market, energy risk exposure and risk management governance and compliance requirements. The analyst will prepare review summary notes, conduct interviews with market participants, discuss findings with team, prepare financial analysis, estimating market participant exposures and be involved in preparing deductive summary reports and insights of cause and effect, assessments and conclusions. This position interacts closely with all departments within Risk Management, various Client departments and Market Participants.
· Review Market Participant risk management policies and interact with Client Members on matters related to their inherent risk and risk management practices and documented policies submitted to Client.
· Perform quantitative energy market risk analysis and reporting
· Develop and administer a process to gather, review, discuss, store and track market participant risk policies.
· Perform energy market exposure calculations and analyze results.
· Develop a solid understanding of the energy market trading products, Client market rules and processes and implement solutions based on that understanding.
· Compile, prepare and analyze various statistical/analytical data, reports, studies or projects.
· Perform quantitative financial impact analysis on market participant portfolios estimated from results of Client models.
· Perform market analysis, develop metrics and insights to support market and credit risk assessment.
· Interact regularly with cross functional teams to understand market rules and resolve market Participant issues.
· Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power point), SQL, Python
Required Skills
· 3+ years of experience:
o Supporting energy trading and risk management analytics and modeling
o with programming in SQL, Python, Alteryx, or SAS
o with financial market including trading, hedging, risk management, and settlement
· 4+ years of experience:
o as an energy market or credit risk analyst, financial analyst or energy contracts administrator
o working in an energy utility, energy wholesale or retail trading risk management role
· 4-year college degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics or finance
· Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
· Experience in energy trading and market risk management analysis, energy contracts and commodity risk management principals and policies
· Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
