Job Description

Data Engineer or Data Systems Engineer Major Duties and Responsibilities

Lead data & technology architecture, building and improving next generation capabilities that drive business growth.
Work closely with the IT Business Analytics leaders to understand needs of the business; clearly articulating the story of value created through data & technology. Work with stakeholders to develop key metrics across our pipelines and validate and track metrics down to the data source and through our pipelines.
Design & build Commercial Sales data analytics capabilities that take advantage of advanced technology and architecture to deliver data-driven insights and solutions.
Drive prioritization and implementation of most appropriate combination of data architecture methodologies & frameworks to ensure optimal scalability, flexibility and performance of platforms, products & solutions.
Be an expert and a thought leader of how data and technology come together to empower the Commercial business
Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, Work with internal IT platform data engineering, security, and technical quality to design and develop DS data pipelines.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Build the infrastructure required for optimal ETL and data cleansing processes of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL or equivalent method.
Develop and implement interactive analytic dashboards and data visualizations and manage and create insightful data visualizations and dashboards.
Extract valuable insights and provide suggestions across product, operations and engineering to improve our pipelines and product.
Build automated analytics tools to help streamline our metrics and analytics process and utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, applied data sciences or other related fields; advanced degree in related fields preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years in IT space specializing in Data & Technology Architecture, Data Engineering and Data management is required
Some combination of the following additional skills is preferred: ML/Ops, Kubernetes, APIs, Data Catalogs, Master Data Management, Data Virtualization and/or Data Visualization (Tableau and Qlik toolset or similar).
Ability to analyze and make data and make data driven decisions in building data processing pipelines.
Solid understanding of Data structures - Support DataOps capabilities for the distributed DS data architecture, use the data-driven approach in the decision-making process.
Strong hands-on development and technology experience with common big data platforms / software development toolkits such as: Python coding, Big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, Airflow, JIRA, Confluence, Sqoop, Git, Dataiku, APIs, KSQL, SQL and NoSQL DB Scala
Deep understanding of and experience operating using Agile, Scrum, and Kanban tools and methods is preferred.
Practice SAFe Agile DevOps principles and methodology in building quality DS technical solutions. Embrace test driven development to maintain the highest quality software engineering standards.
Ability to manage low-level details of a project while understanding the bigger picture of the IT strategy is required.
With little supervision, must be able to define, shape, and drive tasks and projects to completion while effectively collaborating strategically with others is required.
Ability to define and implement prototypes and proofs of concepts is preferred.
Demonstrated strength in examining issues, driving resolution & influencing effectively across the organization. Ability to challenge the status quo in technology & architecture.
Superb interpersonal & communication skills (oral and written), problem-solving, task-prioritization and collaboration skills including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists.
Background or knowledge of Commercial and R&D data is required.
